The SIAC 155 mm L52 howitzer provides indirect fire support for maneuver elements at modest cost of operation. To enter and leave a fire position, less than two minutes are necessary. This shoot-and-scoot capability with a high degree of automatization and high probability of impact from the first shot largely increases the SIAC's survivability.
Usually towed over longer distances in-theater, its integrated auxiliary power unit lends the SIAC self-propelled qualities for rapid changes of position. At a weight of 14.3 tons, the SIAC features excellent strategic mobility.
